A tribute to Her Majesty - The Platinum Jubilee

With the passing of much loved monarch Queen Elizabeth II, lets step back to earlier this year when her Platinum Jubilee celebrations brought the whole nation together...

26th May 2022, London.
I arrived to London back in May to find an abundance of union jacks and a buzz in the atmosphere. My first stop was actually pretty special..
Tottenham Court Road, The Elizabeth Line.
Only a couple of days prior to my London visit and after years of anticipation from the British public, the London Undergrounds newest line opened its doors for the first time. The purple "Elizabeth Line" was a lot quieter than I first imagined but everyone lining the platform, old and young, had phones poised in front of them snapping photos of the brand new platform.

Mere days after this, thousands of people flooded to a flag lined Mall to celebrate Her Majesty's 70 year reign right in front of the Queen herself.

2nd June 2022, Jubilee street party one
My first Jubilee celebration was spent in a town in the middle of England surrounded by music and happy faces. The atmosphere was wonderful as everyone from children to dogs came together to celebrate our Queen. Some people sat outside their houses, drinks in hand and others set up areas in the street sandwiched between stalls of handmade goods. We partied long into the afternoon finishing with a colourful flare marking the occasion before singing our national anthem as one.

3rd June 2022, Jubilee party two
My second Jubilee party, only a day after the first, was spent on a large field outside an old hall moments away from yesterdays festivities. There were fairground rides, food, vintage cars and even archery (which I happily gave a shot...no pun intended. :) The atmosphere was again, incredible and the sheer sense of community was wonderful.
